Washington, DC – June 30, 2025 – Climate Diet, a food and climate non-profit headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, has named Jonah Goldman as the incoming Chair of its Board of Directors. Goldman is the Co-Founder and Marketing Director of PLNT Burger, a restaurant chain with 7 locations in the DMV, and 6 others across the country, that aims to create a more sustainable future through food.

Jonah’s appointment to Board Chair will support Climate Diet in furthering its mission to promote awareness of the role livestock production has on the environment and on human health through the availability and benefits of delicious plant-based meals at reasonable prices,” said Jane DeMarines, Executive Director of Climate Diet.

Goldman replaces outgoing Chair, Edgar Ndjatou, Executive Director of Workplace Fairness and the Principal of Officium HR Consulting. Ndjatou chaired Climate Diet’s Board for four years and will continue to sit on the organization’s Board.

Climate Diet x PLNT Burger Highlight Livestock Production’s Role in Climate Change

DeMarines points to the global record-breaking heat and humidity, not just of recent days, but over the past four years, as the urgent need for more awareness for meat’s role in climate change. “If the world continues to cut down massive rain forests, often referred to as the “world’s lungs,” we surely must recognize the impact —loss of shade, and the carbon reduction, and cooling effects created by trees.”

Goldman’s Expertise: Marketing, Branding & Social Entrepreneur

Jonah Goldman is a marketing and branding specialist, social entrepreneur, and environmental activist with a background in the natural food industry, regenerative agriculture, compostable packaging, and fighting food waste. Goldman studied political science, food policy, and food security before working in the U.S. and abroad with politicians, farmers and a range of companies and organizations to reduce food waste and improve access to healthy food.

I’m thrilled to join Climate Diet in this new role, and look forward to catalyzing the impact and developing the already outstanding programs. Climate Diet’s mission of empowering people of all backgrounds, and especially young people, to make healthier and more sustainable consumption choices has never been more urgently needed, and aligns with my values and desires for a more just, resilient and ecological food system,” shared Goldman.

Goldman works to advance a more secure, just, and resilient food system through his work at PLNT Burger, as well as through improved food policy and consumer campaigns.
