(Bethesda, MD) 5-29-24 Five thousand attendees are expected at Planet Maryland at Elm Street Urban Park in Bethesda, Maryland (formerly Planet Bethesda) on Sunday, June 2nd from 11 am until 6pm. The family-friendly festival features 60+ food, beverage, and retail vendors focused on sustainability in celebration of World Environment Day.
“We’re beyond excited to bring Planet Maryland to the greater DMV-region,” said Lisa DeCrescente, Director of the Planet Series Events. “Following a successful Planet Virginia in April and setting the stage for September’s Planet Delaware and October’s Planet DC, Planet Maryland brings together the best cuisine, clothing, accessories, and informational vendors across the region focused on a more sustainable future for our planet.”
National Climate and Sustainability Experts to Speak
“We’re also honored to present this year’s main stage lineup which includes Dr. Sailesh Rao of Climate Healers, Jonah Goldman of PLNT Burger, Roxanne Becker, MD from Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), and Maryland’s 8th District Congressman Jamie Raskin, among others,” added DeCrescente. “New this year is Baltimore’s ‘Eric Energy’ who will conduct dynamic science experiments like bubbling potions, windstreams and clouds on the ground for the young and young at heart.”
Also new in 2024 is the “Planet Bar” featuring refreshing mocktails from Mad Magic Kombucha and Washington DC’s Gingerbeet to keep cool on the forecasted 81-degree day.
Planet Maryland picks up following back-to-back Planet Bethesda events in 2022 and 2023 which attracted a combined nearly 10,000 attendees. The sustainability event features food and beverage vendors, an interactive kids’ korner, an electric car display, main stage speakers, the Planet Bar, cooking demo, giveaways, music, and more.
While the event is free and open to the public, each vendor sells their food and products. Find out more information and browse the full vendor and main stage lineups at PlanetMaryland.org.
